2012 COTY Coin of the Year - Winner in "Most Innovative Coin" Category

Unique silver coin that indicates the direction of Mecca/Qibla thanks to the special inscriptions on the coin, and a magnetic spoon.
The coin was voted as "Coin of the Year 2012", winner in "Most Innovative Coin" Category.

The key object of this coin series is the spoon-shaped magnet, which is a Chinese invention and dates back to the second century before Christ. The thin end of the spoon points to the south and was originally made out of magnetic iron ore. The magnet orients itself toward the North Pole. On the coin the globe is symbolically subdivided into 36 segments. The position 0/36 for Mecca is represented by both minarets and the conventionalised Kaaba. On an enclosure several cities are listed with a number. Who then wants to locate the position of Mecca must turn the set until the thin end of the spoon points to the corresponding number. The minarets then indicate in which direction Mecca lies. This set is especially suitable as a gift to express ones appreciation towards the receiver. It is not essential to take the set on journeys. It also does its service on a desk or shelf – it shows in which direction Mecca lies.
The reverse shows the emblem of Cote d'Ivoire.

Coin Man 收藏幤之分配比例?

Blog 友 (Chic Wong) 在留言問 Coinman係咪專買呢類幣，還是都有買低溢幣或條？又如何分配比例呢？

Coin Man 認為這是一個好問題, 所以出文回應一下. 希望Blog 友 (Chic Wong)不要介意.

首先 Coin Man 在此要分享一下自己的經歷.

在2010年中, Coin Man 在Web 閱到孫柏文的文章談長城銀條 (10兩), 他叫人買銀條來投資. 那時 Coin Man 無無聊聊, 見幾得意, 便跟他的意見在中銀(中環分行), 買了5條作收藏玩意. 那時銀條價是 HKD 1333 (每條).

之後 Coin Man 都沒有在意, 過了幾個月, Coin Man 再跟進長城銀條在中銀的買入價 - 已經是HKD 1750 (每條).

Coin Man 發現了買入長城銀條好像有錢賺. 幾個月升了30%. 想了一會兒, 立即再打去中銀問有沒有長城銀條. 中銀的Sales 話無貨, 但可以留電話, 有貨便通知來買.  中銀的Sales 問Coin Man 要留多少條, Coin Man 說留"十條啦"! 過了1 個星期,  中銀的Sales 叫Coin Man 來買.

最後Coin Man 在2011 年頭賣回所有長城銀條給中鋃 @ HKD 2970. Total Investment Gain 大約84%.

在2011 年中, 再買了2 條作收藏之用 @ HKD 3220, 之後再沒有買賣. 為什麼? 因為銀價再沒有大幅上升.

Coin Man 第一次買低溢幣的Maple Silver / 1kg Coin / 10 OZ Silver Bar 是在 2012 年頭在LPM 買的. 平均價是 USD 28 - 32 per OZ, 現在都定時去LPM 買1 kg Coin / Silver Bar. 但沒有大手大手買入, 因為Coin Man 估計2012 的銀價不會大幅上升, 只會在 USD 26 - USD 32 橫行. 要等時機 !!!

Coin Man 第一次買收藏幣是2010,  買了RCM 的 Snowflake coin set, (有興趣請看Old Post)

其實現在到此"收藏幣"沒有令Coin Man 大賺錢, 最勁的例子是蒙古幣, Total Investment Gain 大約 440%. 但Coin Man 相信 "收藏幣", 才是真正的Gold Mint. 為什麼呢?

"收藏幣"是有錢人的玩意. 現在Coin Man 買的新幣沒有太大的上升空間, 最 但過了二三十年之後有如何呢? 五十年之後有如何呢?

Coin Man 現在買的新幣大多是 Low Mintage, 有Theme, 有主題, 有意思的.

如其他Blog 友所說有價無市的 PM HR Dragon Coin.
此Coin, Coin Man 有點投機的成分. 請Blog 友問問自己, 你們在追PM 生肖BU Coin 時, 有沒有給 Premium 找一此 low Mintage 的生肖幣呢? 如果 HR Coin 成氣候... "HR Dragon" 是第一隻HR生肖幣, Mintage 7500, 你們估要用幾多錢買返呢?

寫了一大篇還沒有入正題 !!!
Coin Man 的分配比例是？其實這個問題真的好私人. 我不想在此說出.... (希望大家 Blog 友明白). 但Coin Man 的決定是自己想要的 "收藏幣" 一定要在推出時買入, 之後再追貨, 又要給 Premium 被人賺.

想像一下.... "收藏幣" 如古董.  新的"收藏幣"不能給你們立即的 Profit,  但經過時間的洗禮..... 分分鐘是無價寶!

大家常說 Financial Melt Down, 金銀飛升, 但幾時先? 銀價升到 USD 100? 150?
但政府印錢是事實, 錢大多, 收藏幣是一個投放的一個選擇.

最後總結, 低溢幣的銀幣和收藏幣都有需要. 但分配比例是個人的決定.
自己量力而為便可. 最重要是個人興趣.

投資紀念幣既是一項專門的學問，初入行列者，本身應對錢幣有一定的興趣，且願意花時間研究以增進自己的知識；抱著長線的眼光，努力地去發掘有潛質的錢幣，多向專家請教，對各種金銀幣作有系統的研究，多留意市場的需求情況。

收藏幣之進退兩難篇 (Dilemma of Coin Collection)

Blog友(Tiger) 話: "我近幾年都係買投資性抵溢價風葉鷹揚幣或條,只係舊年才開始買少少收藏幣放長線,但由狼幣奶點事件之後,我決定收藏幣盡量買低mintage有特色又比較受大眾注意的.我是小戶^_^ "

其實有好多Blog 友正在開始參與收集銀幣的玩意, 但他們正站在十字路口, 心中有一個問題.....
收藏幣是 High Premium / High Cost. 我怎能用"小户"心態參與其中Make Profit 和有收集之樂趣?

他們想要的收藏幣 -> (1) 低mintage; (2) 有特色主題 (Theme); (3) 大眾注意的 (Popularity).

我們來討論一下他們的要求!!!

(1) 低mintage
如何介定低mintage? 10? 20? 50? 100? 150? 200? 500? 1000? 5000? 7500? 10000? 15000? 20000?
其實Low Mintage = Rare (物以罕為貴)。

(2) 有主題 / 特色
如何介定有主題 / 特色 ?
其實主題 / 特色 是限於收藏者個人去決定.
例如Coin Man 收藏的主題可以是 High Relief Coin、 生肖、國際盛事(奧運)、皇室事件、蒙古紀念幣。

(3) 大眾注意的 (popularity)
Coin Man 不需要解釋什麼是大眾注意的了!

如果其收藏幣有全部以上要求, 會不會好貴先?

例如... SILVER COIN URAL OWL MONGOLIA 在2011年發行, 當時沒有太好多人認識,
Coin Man  能用HKD 1380 (per coin) 買到 2 隻, 最近賣了一隻OWL MONGOLIA @ AUD 800

但它的下一系列 LONG EARED HEDGEHOG MONGOLIA, 已經有大眾注意, 只能用HKD 1380 (per coin) , 買到1隻, 但都找了很久, 因為全港只有25枚的 quota.

從以上例子, 買Coin 要 把握時機趁早購入，搶先以發行價值購入，以免日後因錢幣升值而需以較高的價錢購回。

所以Blog 友 Tiger 的要求是有可能的!

但如果Blog 友你認為在PM 用AUD 100 買一隻HR Dargon 好貴, 比較BU Coin 貴了3 倍, 請不耍參與收集Proof Coin, 你的Cup of Tea 是低溢價的風葉鷹揚幣或銀條罷了!

Coin Man 對 PM's High Relief Coin Mintage 的見解

Blog友(Tiger) 在SPC 問Coin Man 對 Mintage of 翠鳥HR (10,000) and Kangaroo HR (20,000) 的見解.

從PM's Blog - "High relief silver - a popular new coin genre to collect" 可以看到一些眉目.

請Blog友(Tiger) 細看文章下的Comment, 可以估到為什麼翠鳥HR的Mintage 是10,000.

Coin Collector 在PM's Blog suggest PM to do followings to increase the popularity of the HR coin.
(1) Increase the diameter of the high relief coin;
(2) Reduce mintage;
(3) Lower the price / Premium.

對於(suggestion 1), 好難做到, 因為HR 是厚過普通幣, 如果要做到和普通幣的diameter, 其Silver 的份量一定多過1OZ. 但如果HR Coin 開始流行, 需求大, 2OZ 和5OZ 的HR Coin 可能出現.現在會出的機會比較細.

對於(suggestion 3), PM 不會做, 因為沒有需要 Lower the selling price.

PM 可以做的決定是 -> Reduce Mintage.

如果翠鳥HR今次大買, 下次出的Koala HR Mintage 可能會是(20000), 不會是(10000).
但如果Koala HR Mintage set at (10000),  大有可能翠鳥HR今次的出貨量是一般.
2012 Kangaroo HR Coin, Coin Man 估Mintage (20000) -> (不變)
Lunar (Snake) HR Mintage 估(7500)  -> (不變)

LONG EARED HEDGEHOG 的前一系列 "SILVER COIN URAL OWL MONGOLIA 2011"

Coin Man 在四月時放在Sivler Pocket Club 放買, 當時的出售價是USD 420.

但沒有人問津,  但Coin Man 知道 LONG EARED HEDGEHOG 將會出售, 便急急收起不買 (封盤), 等LONG EARED HEDGEHOG 的來臨。

Coin Man 在本月中已經將"SILVER COIN URAL OWL MONGOLIA 2011" 買了給一個澳洲的Coin Collector  - AUD 800. (已經收了錢)

出售時, Silver Price 是USD 29 Per OZ.

為什麼澳洲的Coin Collector願意用 AUD 800 買一個表面值USD 29 的銀幣?

其原因是......... Coin Collector 覺得此幣設計精美, 它本身已儼然是件藝術瑰寶，鑄造少， 收藏價值高。

Coin Man 說出此例子是希望Blog 友明白, 銀幣是價值不只是銀的表面值.

Coin Man 的見議

近來好忙, 因為Coin Man 的第一個孩子（女）剛出生，所以沒有時間去 update 此Blog.
但Coin Man 沒有忘記金銀的投資, 最近反而買多了一些銀幣.

Blog 友 Ivan 問 Coin Man, 除了Royal Mint 的Coin**, 還有什麼好的金銀幣見議給其他Blogmates?
** (Blog 友 Ivan 說Royal Mint 的Coin 是好, 但High Premium)

Coin Man 的見議如下.
(1) 如果Blog 友是想用銀幣投資來賺錢 (2~3倍的回報), 現在是時期買入Low Premium 的BU Coin, 最好是近Spot 的新幣. 不用大量一次過買, 平均分注買入便可. Coin Man 喜歡買入PM 1kg 的Coin (1kg = 32.15 Oz). Silver Bar 都可以.

PM 1kg 的Coin = HKD 8000 -> USD 31.9 per OZ.

 如銀價能回到 USD 20 更好. (期待中).
為什麼期待? 銀價是給人操控的事實, 大家都有所聞, 但銀的實際價值是高於現在的spot price.
請大家用以前的油價去理解現在銀價. 銀價上USD 100 有可難!
2~3倍的回報, 十年來指日可侍.
如果各國的債務問題不能解決...... 銀價上USD 100  可能更快。

但Coin Man 不會大量買入Gold Coin / Bar, 因為金價已經 Price in debt crisis的 Premium.
如果金價落倒USD 1400, Coin Man 會追入. 當然金飾是另外..... 買金飾是看需要.

紀念事項之重要性
錢幣所包含之紀念意義對其升值或收藏價值而言，是個非常重要的因素。找你們自己有興趣的Area, 例如生肖 、國際盛事、千禧盛事(皇室事件)等所發行的紀念幣或金章，便極具價值。

鑄量限額之多寡
物以罕為貴，錢幣之價值亦按市場供求情況而有所變動。若鑄造限額低，造成大批收藏家爭相競投，該錢幣的身價便容易暴漲。

品質之完美程度
金幣的品質愈高，價值愈受保障。當然，古錢幣則例外。

貴金屬含量
貴金屬如金、白金和銀，在市場上有一定的需求，縱使價格浮動，幅度亦不會過大。故錢幣或紀念章內的貴金屬含量愈高，價值愈受保障。

藝術與鑄工
精心設計具鏡面和磨霜浮雕的精鑄金幣，它本身已儼然是件藝術瑰寶，收藏價值大大提高。升值潛質亦較普鑄版金幣為高。

發行機構的代表性
一般而言，以國家或官方鑄幣局發行之紀念幣，因獲官方保証，收藏價值較有保障。

把握時機趁早購入
其實，一枚即將發行的紀念幣，若深具紀念和珍藏價值的話，必有其升值的潛質，收集者應把握時機，搶先以發行價值購入，以免日後因錢幣升值而需以較高的價錢購回。
